A Challenge

A Challenge from My Heart to Yours

Today I sit in my bedroom extending a challenge to young Christian women everywhere.  My goal is never to condemn or to judge. My heart is heavy as I write this, not knowing if anyone will even read it, but, at the same time, knowing God has laid it on my heart to say something. Every place you turn in today’s culture young Christian women are confronted with compromising their standards and beliefs. One of the main things we are called to compromise is the way we dress. My heart aches as I see so many girls that I know that do love the Lord but choose to conform to the world’s standards to wear what is cute or in-style. Romans 12:2 says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” As Christian girls we should be completely different. We must live to let God change the way we think so that we are not living to draw people to ourselves but rather to point people to Christ. To be transformed into becoming like Christ means that we would then be different in our speech, in our actions, and in our dress. What’s the first thing people see when they look at you? The way you dress, right? Why then would we not long to use such a simple tool of clothing in which we could show the world that we are different. Just simply by dressing to please God instead of dressing to please yourself or a guy is going to cause people to ask “Why is she different?” When people ask this question we get to answer that it’s JESUS.  Please hear me- I challenge you to be different. Rise above the culture, yourself, peer pressure, and live out the life God is calling you too. Yes, God has GREAT plans for your life, but He has given us instructions on how to live in order to live in the fullness of those plans. He even has words for you on how to dress. I encourage you to take some time to read your Bible and pray. Ask God as the Psalmist does in Psalm 139:24 to “Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.” I promise you that you will never regret living for God and living out the life He has called you to live, for there is no higher calling than that.
